Here at Susheel Martin Foundation, we see the value in everyone. We strive to be a catalyst for positive change, driven by the same ideas that founded our Non-Profit Organization: support, empowerment, and progress. Learn more about our mission, vision, and how we work to create the changes we wish to see.
In 1989, Mrs. Daya Martin founded Nireekshana in Bangalore, dedicating 23 years to serving special children at the Baldwin Opportunity School. She managed this project independently for four years until World Vision of India partnered with Nireekshana in 1994, providing crucial financial support. This 20-year partnership, lasting until 2013, turned Nireekshana into a beacon of hope for students from various societal backgrounds.
Before Mrs. Martin's untimely demise in 2014, her only wish was that "Nireekshana must go on." In April 2011, Susheel Devadoss Martin passed away, leading to the foundation of Susheel Martin Foundation in 2012. Susheel was a person with zest, passion, and a drive for empowering the needy, and our foundation is dedicated to his enduring legacy.
In 2014, Mrs. Martin's daughter, Rohini Abigail Rahaman, moved back to India to keep her mother's dream and passion alive. With World Vision withdrawing financial support, Susheel Martin Foundation was established with the aspiration to raise funds and preserve the legacy. Rohini, as the managing trustee of SMF, brings valuable experience, having worked with children as a certified teacher for special kids and serving as a kindergarten teacher for 13 years.
Together, we continue this meaningful journey, creating positive change and transforming lives.
